This week has been so rainy and cold here. It’s supposed to get down to 40 degrees tonight but thankfully move up from there. I have the majority of my warm crops already in the ground so I hope it doesn’t get any colder than forecasted. We are two weeks past our average last frost date!
In the garden:
-
40 tomatoes in the ground! Wahoo! It’s nice to have all those planted. I was so tired of moving them and watering tomato plants that were too big for the plastic cups they were in. I made a little space outside my smaller garden for all the extra plants I had. Now I just need to figure out how to keep the deer away since they are outside the garden fence!
-
36 peppers went in too, but one already got attacked by a cutworm so I’m down to 35. I put cups around the really small ones because of cutworms but I didn’t realized it would try to eat through a larger plant too!
-
I started planting out oregano, basil, thyme into the garden.
-
Planted Haricot Tarbais Beans at the base of the other new arch trellis we built.
-
I transplanted some lemon squash. This was what I had started in the soil blocks and they transplanted great.
-
I transplanted 2 ginger plants that I ordered online. I put them my small garden because it gets more shade and ginger can only handle a little bit of sun. But I think I’ll have to move them to an even shadier spot.
-
Hilled up my potato plants, and then planted green beans on the outside of the bed.
-
First Strawberry came this week!
-
First pea flower too.
